What are gratings?

Part of the floor tile family, a grating is an assembly of squared rods forming a square or rectangular panel. This floor covering is traditionally used to reinforce safety and limit risks in industry. It is also used in architecture to decorate, embellish and protect structures in urban spaces.

The materials used to design gratings are diverse. You'll find them in steel, aluminum, stainless steel, polyester, rubber and even wood for garden terraces. The finish also varies according to the model. It can be electropolished, powder-coated, anodized or other.

Metal, rubber, polyester and hygienic are the main grating materials we sell. Depending on your working environment, you can choose one or more of these materials.

1. Metal gratings

Pressed or forged, metal gratings are made up of bars whose regular centers represent a percentage of empty space, forming a mesh of varying dimensions. Anti-slip, this model is used for floors, industrial flooring, stair treads, fences and railings, facades and architectural structures.

2. Rubber gratings

Designed for building entrances, walkways, production lines and stair treads ,rubber gratings are an excellent non-slip surface for wet environments. Biodegradable and recyclable, it is shock-resistant and anti-fatigue for people working on their feet during the working day.

3. Polyester grating

Available in a range of colors, polyester grating is made from fiberglass-reinforced resin (65% resin for chemical resistance, 35% fiberglass for UV resistance). It is laid in a mold that defines its mesh size, height and thickness.
These materials ensure high mechanical resistance and offer numerous advantages.
Inaddition to being easy to cut, polyester grating is corrosion- and weather-resistant. It can be used both indoors and outdoors, and in all types of industries including food processing, pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, textiles, automotive and aeronautics.

4. Hygienic gratings

This model is mainly used in the food industry, where floors are often damp. Made from flexible PVD ,hygienic gratings ensure maximum hygiene and safety. Both anti-slip and anti-bacterial (depending on the model), they prevent the proliferation of bacteria and fungi.

Grating standards

Like other industrial matranges , gratings comply with strict specifications and safety standards, whatever the material. This guarantees quality, precision and safety.

Standards vary according to the materials used, the strength, the filling and the type of use of the grating. For example, for steel gratings, the reference standards are NF 10025 for the material, NF A35-503 and NF EN 10051. For stainless steel, you'll find NF EN 10088-1, and for aluminum gratings, 5754 (for safety grids) and 5005 OAB. Knowing these standards will enable you to choose the model best suited to your company's needs.

The importance of gratings in industry
